Sales is nothing but presenting the domains to the right audience. Easier said than done.

The most important part is the “Right Audience”. How do you go about finding the right audience. That is a bit tricky depending on the kind of audience you are targeting i.e End users or Resellers.

This post is about going after mainly Resellers. From Reseller selling point of view it is better to show your domains to a big group of resellers at a time than going after one at a time unlike End users.

Other than the Domain Market places such as Sedo, Snapnames, Godaddy Auctions etc, one of the most important place to advertise your domains is Domain Name Blogs such as LazyDomaining.com. You can easily advertise your domains using Paid Post(which i feel is most effective), Link to your Domain Sale Page, Banners etc.

The point is the Domain Name Blogs reach a wide range of Domainers and it is definitely worth a try if you are targeting mainly the Reseller market not to say End Users won’t reach you through blogs such as LazyDomaining.com.

In the online world what you say is what you are. Here you don’t get to see all your peers, talk with them etc. What you really make out of them is with what they say.

What prompted me to write this post is my Hotel Domains sale. There were multiple interests and most of the potential buyers were not very familiar with the my expected mode of payment i.e Paypal Masspay. If you are not familiar with Paypal Masspay i suggest you to check out Jamie’s post at DotWeekly.com.

Once the potential buyers were not meeting my criteria of Paypal Masspay payment which was choosen for security reasons, how do i go about next. The obvious method to choose from security point of view is which buyer is a genuine one or in other words is any buyer i choose to deal with is a possible scammer. I choosed one buyer and the deal was closed in a smooth and swift manner.

Later i found out that other interested buyers were also genuine ones because they were either members at domain name forums or owned websites which were running for long time. I felt sorry for the other interested buyers. Any interested buyer who could have said more about themselves and explained they were genuine would have secured the deal.

Whenever you are a member at a domain name forum say that you are, if you own a blog or website say that you own them or anything which would prove you are a genuine domainer. All these things help to the person whom you are dealing with to make decisions.

After all, in the online world what you say is what you are.

I have made by first domain name CheapCars.info sale at Bido pending payment. Overall i am impressed with Bido. Few of the unique interesting features that stood out were

1. Auto Domain Name Owner Verification

Bido asks you to add a randomly generated tag in the whois details of the flag. Once you do this, bido automatically checks for this tag in the whois details of the domain name thereby confirming you have the control over the domain name when you click on “verify”.

2. Bido’s social voting system

I have already written about this in my earlier post.

One important link missing was that, once the domain name is sold, Bido didn’t give a follow up mail after the domain name sale. I was a bit surprised as Bido mailed even when the domain name which i voted for came to auction. Honestly i was expecting a mail saying the domain name has been sold and pending payment. I only got a mail after the buyer made the payment, asking me to push the domain name.

Overall i love Bido as it gives me an easy alternative option to sell my domain names.
